About the Author

Chetan Bhagat is the author of seven blockbuster books. These include six novels—Five Point Someone (2004), One Night @ the Call Center (2005), The 3 Mistakes of My Life (2008), 2 States (2009), Revolution 2020 (2011), Half Girlfriend (2014)—and the non-fiction title What Young India Wants (2012). Chetan’s books have remained bestsellers since their release. Four out of his six novels have been already adapted into successful Bollywood films and the others are in the process of being adapted as well. The New York Times called him the ‘biggest-selling English-language novelist in India’s history’. Time magazine named him amongst the ‘100 most influential people in the world’ and Fast Company listed him as one of the world’s ‘100 most creative people in business’. Chetan writes columns for leading English and Hindi newspapers, focusing on youth and national development issues. He is also a motivational speaker and screenplay writer. Chetan quit his international investment banking career in 2009 to devote his entire time to writing and making change happen in his country. He lives in Mumbai with his wife, Anusha, an ex-classmate from IIM-A, and his twin boys, Shyam and Ishaan. Chick Flick Novel. Not worth it.
By HarryCool
This is the first time I have read a book which is inspired by Bollywood movies and not the other way round. The talk about Chetan Bhagat writing to inspire the youth of India is misleading. Indians who read English novels are not the types who are going to get inspired by the chick-flick type writing of Bhagat, which apart from the poor literary quality also does not offer any new insights or ideas.

The writer or shall I say the storyteller has picked up an issue which has not received as much entertainment media attention (at least exclusively and directly) as other social issues like poverty, employment or religion/terrorism. He has thus tried to capitalize on the exclusivity of the subject but has failed miserably from the perspective of content.

This is my third book of Chetan Bhagat. The more I read him, the less I like him. Chetan Bhagat at the most is a good "story teller" but definitely not a "writer". His books have a good flow, are fast reads, have a decent sense of humor and quite accurately reflect the landscape it is set in. The language he uses is also day-to-day conversational English in India and thus offers a freshness that usual Indian writing does not do to Indians. Yes, his books are very Indianized! Unfortunately for him and his writing style, one can get the same feel by watching any grounded Indian movie which are in abundance for quite some time now.

good read
By John Q
Having read all the other works of Chetan, This book is definitely not his best. This book has all the traits of chetan's books, easy language, fast pace , regular down to earth characters and not so great ending. I wouldnt expect Chetan to write flowery language with pages of descriptions about things and characters like other Indian authors do. Infact the main reason I avoid reading work by Indian Authors is the tons of boring descriptions about almost everything in the world.
Coming back to the book in review, the story is about two guys and a girl who grow up as friends together from high school. Both guys fall for same girl, and eventually one of them gets the Girl. This love story is in background of the education system in india, how coaching colleges work and how corruption is promoted in politics and various government offices.

Ending is not what you would expect, and is better than all other climaxes that Chetan wrote so far. Characters behave naturally. At times the fight between character Raghav and Gopal reminds me of Ayn Rand's Fountainhead. Readers would find themselves rooting for the bad guy at the end. Main protagonist is too ideal and is not practical in most situations.

I finished reading this book in about 3 days. Very interesting read overall, but not for readers who would look for something very intellectual.

CB Revolution 2020
By Balasubramanian
Good Book. Ending could be better. Gopi will be better revolution hero than Ragav. Arati is typical new age girl..She opens her mouth for money & success. Expecting Revolution Part 2..
