End was disappointing. If your looking for a HEA...this aint it and a lot of her stuff is like that. Her shorts are. I liked the idea of the story but like I said the ending she leaves and he lets her. Talk about a bummer.

A few years ago, following a lecture I gave at a local church, a student confessed to me that she wished she had been born a Jew so she could know what Jesus experienced. Moved by her words, I asked her what--aside from being reborn in a different era--could help her gain that knowledge. She said, "A real understanding of Jesus's life as a Jew."

This book is the result of that conversation. It is a result of thousands of hours spent in learning and conversations with devoted Jews and Christians who care about growing in faith and knowledge.

For followers of Jesus, I hope seeing Jesus's life as a Jew opens up new ways of appreciating and growing closer to him. I hope it helps Christians move beyond the simple understanding of Jesus as a ticket to heaven to Jesus as a way of living within a tradition and relating to others. I hope it helps Jews move beyond a simple association of Jesus with anti-Semitism to Jesus as a teacher of Judaism. I also hope it creates new encounters with God and with one another. 

About the Author
Evan Moffic is lead rabbi of Congregation Solel, a synagogue of 500 families. He blogs regularly for Beliefnet.com, Huffingtonpost.com, and MichaelHyatt.com. Over the last six years, he has officiated at more than 200 interfaith weddings, giving him familiarity with the sensitivities and interests of Christian families in Judaism. He has brought new understanding of the Jewish heritage to churches and Christian groups, including the largest Catholic and Presbyterian churches Chicago, Illinois, where he lives with his wife and children.

esus taught in allegories - you have to know what he was referring to. This book gives that understanding

For some time I have become convinced that I cannot understand Jesus unless I could hear him with the ears of a first century CE Jew because was teaching Torah and all the many nuances of Jewish religion.
I did not know Torah or the nuances either. It's like the joke "at any point in that ride through the desert, he could have given that horse a Name"

If you don't know the song, you don't get the joke. Jesus was not joking but I was sure I was missing a whole and a large part of what he was saying because I did not know the'song' that is I did not get the allusions or know what they were referring to. I did not know how to rectify this so I started researching first century Judaism but that still didn't give me the whole "song"
I stumbled on this book in the search for Judaism.i considered converting, joining kids in Jewish school but would not fit the little chairs and then

Another well written book I can read when I retire from work in 8 years.

There is a entire series of books by this author, Evan Moffic. I lent it to my church leaders. I only have about 65 books to read. Maybe when in 8 years when I'm 70 and can retire fully vested in Social Security I will be able to read more. I kind of like books. Thank you Amazon for feeding my addiction of books. No wonder I'm broke! Hah! I'll read it eventually and I know this will be a good book. The author has high marks on his book reviews!

I think it's a mistake to re-write stories to suit ...

I think it's a mistake to re-write stories to suit current tastes and sensibilities, but I understand some people are going to do this. It's not acceptable to do this and sell the book without informing the person you are selling it to before hand. Understand, this is the bowdlerized version of Hugh Lofting's story, not the one he wrote. I would never have bought it had I realized that.

...as a matter of fact it takes a much cleverer man to be a really good animal-doctor than it does to be a good people's doctor." Children's treasure for kindle less the racist elements which I didn't really miss, as for me it was more about the wonderful story told. How can you not enjoy a tale that includes the passages "Once upon a time, many years ago when our grandparents were little children---there was a doctor, and his name was Dolittle" together with "the gold-fish in the pond at the bottom of his garden, he had rabbits in the pantry, white mice in his piano, a squirrel in the linen closet, and a hedgehog in the cellar." Great book for spurring one's imagination - both young and old alike!

Best children bedtime book you can buy. This is the real deal. If you want something to read to your 4-8 yr old before bedtime please read them this. Its a beautiful story as much fun to read as it is to hear. My kid still tells me how much it meant to him to have me read him this.

After beginning this poorly written book, and then looking back at the reviews, I am almost certain that we are reading different books. I am one of those people who will read Facebook posts while silently correcting the grammar and spelling. So while I was reading the prologue and the first couple of pages, all I could do was critique how terribly put together each sentence was and how there were missed opportunities to further describe the scenarios and people involved. I was completely distracted by the mistakes and unable to get much useful information out the book. My teenager has more talent for storytelling. I want my $2.99 back.

Thoughtfully scarey!

Very disturbing. In these cases I feel the population dodged a bigger tragedy but for those that were the victims this is still a tragedy of epic proportions. One does not want to think about what would have transpired from these horrors if the killers would not have been caught.

found it readable, but not very interesting...guess I am used to more single story true crime instead of just a bland reporting of an overall of the killers.

About the Author
Dr. McDowell grew up by the sea on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. From an early age he fished for enjoyment then employment through his college years, winning Tuna Tournaments with fish weighing over 600 pounds. After obtaining his Ph.D. in Ocean Physics, he conducted research in the deep North Atlantic Ocean and made the first-ever discovery of 60-mile-wide ocean eddies (thereafter named Meddies ) swirling a mile below the surface as they moved westward from the Straits of Gibraltar. His discovery spawned international research on mid-ocean eddies for the next two decades. During his oceanographic career, he led research programs for analysis of currents, tides, waves and water quality characteristics in coastal and deep-ocean environments. Projects ranged from an investigation of seafloor volcanoes at 63 South latitude in the Antarctic Ocean (in 30-ft seas) to studies at the remote Yukon River Delta in the Alaskan Bering Sea and measurements of deep currents affecting submerged gas production platforms in the Gulf of Thailand. He also conducted oceanographic programs for State and U.S. federal agencies, as well as commercial clients worldwide. Employed by private industry for 27 years, Dr. McDowell s management responsibilities progressed continually and during his final years of employment he managed a Marine Sciences and Environmental Planning Division with 120 staff located in seven offices nationwide. Forty staff had M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, exemplifying the high caliber of the organization he led. Today he enjoys living aboard his 60-ft motor yacht, Someday Is Now, in the Florida Keys as a Coast Guard licensed Captain. He s active with a new career of writing non-fiction from his diverse marine experiences, as well as fiction thrillers about nautical espionage and oceanography."

Actual marinas are not listed--though the author makes that clear from the start and that is not the purpose of the book. Great overview of how to find a marina that works and what to expect. I recommend the book!
